History Of Authenticity

For more than a quarter of a century, Leder Mode Limited has built a reputation for making strong, comfortable footwear for hard working people across the Caribbean Region and of course for our Jamaican family.

The company was originally purchased by A. Barclay Ewart in 1982 from what was then BATA Shoe Company and appropriately re-named Phoenix Shoes Company. It was the German translation for leather fashion which was taught to the Company by a Consultant of theirs at the time, from which the Leder Mode brand name arose.

For the time in which it existed this company was forward integrated under the instruction of a visionary leader; operating its own tannery and making shoes and other leather items from premium Jamaican leather. Today, Leder Mode boots and shoes are still crafted with skill by tradesmen who take the time to make sure each pair lasts and protects like fine tools.

Through the creation of strong partnerships with Premium Brands, such as Land Rover and its Chinese counterparts, all of our products are made with high quality raw materials. This combined with our local knowledge for what our market desires results in our boots continuing to manifest the history of authentic safety for which the brand is known.
